COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Conservation Corridors Partnership

At Proyecto Tití, we partner with farmers to protect and restore forests critical to the survival of the critically endangered cotton-top tamarin. Through years of relationship-building and trust, we've created voluntary conservation agreements with landowners who set aside portions of their land for forest corridors. In return, they receive meaningful benefits tailored to their specific needs—such as support with sustainable agricultural practices, solar energy systems, or improved irrigation. These tools help farmers increase productivity and achieve greater economic security, while also safeguarding biodiversity.

Participating landowners become part of our TITI GUARDIANS program, where they explore the value of conservation through workshops and commit to actions like never keeping cotton-top tamarins as pets. As wildlife returns and their land becomes more resilient, many express pride in being stewards of Colombia’s forests.

By linking forest protection with practical support for farmers, we ensure that conservation delivers direct, lasting benefits to local communities. These partnerships strengthen livelihoods, increase resilience to environmental change, and empower families to become long-term guardians of the forests they call home.
