Connecting Forests, Empowering Farmers: Proyecto Tití's Titi Guardians Program
As Proyecto Tití works to connect isolated forest patches to larger protected forest landscapes, we collaborate with local farmers to create forest corridors. These farmers dedicate portions of their forested land to form a continuous corridor, linking neighboring forest patches and providing safe pathways for wildlife. Members of the Titi Guardians program learn about cotton-top tamarins and the benefits of protecting forest habitats for both wildlife and people. They also receive support tailored to their needs. Given the remoteness of these farms, many lack electricity and running water, so Proyecto Tití provides solar panels for electricity, irrigation supplies for crop watering, and even mules to assist with daily tasks. As we connect habitats near Colosó to the larger ecosystem, we are proud of everyone’s efforts to protect wildlife in the region.
